Francisco Gomes

Francisco Gomes is a guitarist, teacher, and author of the guitar manual Success Is Proportional to Effort, aimed at elementary and intermediate levels. This pedagogical work has been widely adopted in various music schools as a reference teaching resource. He studied Classical Guitar with Professor José Pina at the Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espetáculo do Porto and furthered his studies with guitarist Costas Cotsiolis in Athens. He later completed a Master’s Degree in Performance at the University of Aveiro, under the guidance of guitarist and pedagogue Betho Davezac. He also holds a degree in Primary Education from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, a qualification that provided him with a solid pedagogical foundation applied to his work with students. With more than 30 years dedicated to teaching, Francisco Gomes has taught in various institutions, and his students have won hundreds of prizes in national and international competitions. Throughout his teaching career, he has mentored over 30 students in the Secondary Music Course, most of whom have been admitted to prestigious European universities in the field of Musical Performance, including the Royal Academy of Music (UK), Guildhall School of Music and Drama (UK), Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid (Spain), Conservatory of Music in Vigo (Spain), Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (UK), Universität Mozarteum (Austria), and Royal College of Music (UK). Among his former students is also a scholarship recipient of the prestigious Julian Bream Trust. In parallel with his teaching career, Francisco Gomes has developed work as a composer, seeking to create bridges between classical and flamenco repertoire. His music stands out for its innovative exploration of the fusion of sounds and styles, reflecting an open and contemporary artistic vision.
