Daniel was born in Oporto on August 25th, 1990.
While studying the saxophone at the Conservatory, he began to become interested in Composition, with Francisco Loreto as teacher.
In 2011 he entered the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML) in the Composition studies under the guidance of Sérgio Azevedo. He worked also with António Pinho Vargas, Roberto Alejandro Pérez, Carlos Marecos, João Madureira and Carlos Caires.
In 2013, he won the following awards: an Honorable Mention in the Composition Prize Antena 2 / SPA; an Honourable Mention at the Portuguese Symphony Band’s Second Composition Prize performed at Casa da Música’s Suggia Hall in Oporto.
In September 2014 he won the 1st place in the Composition Prize SPA / Antena 2 with the work “…from the last breath”.
He has a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Daniel Davis is the Young Resident Composer for the season 2014-2015 at the Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra.
He is currently studying a a Master in Composition at the ESML with Luís Tinoco.
